Electronics & Wifi in Croatia
ELECTRICITY / ADAPTERS
The standard voltage in Croatia is 230V and 50Hz. The plug types are C and F, the same as Greece and nearly every other European country with the exception of Ireland, the U.K., Cyprus, and Malta. If you’re visiting from a country with a different plug type you’ll need adaptors to power for electronic devices. They can be purchased online on Amazon and other sites, at many airports and stores, including Target, Best Buy, Walmart, Currys / PC World.
WI-FI AND STAYING CONNECTED
The vast majority of both private accommodation and hotels offer free Wi-Fi. There are also connections at nearly every bar, café, and some restaurants. If it’s not advertised, ask. Oftentimes all you need is a password, and your server will be happy to provide it.
Check with your carrier about using your mobile phone in Croatia, you may need an international plan or there may be fees for roaming, so you’ll want to determine the most cost-effective options. If you use your phone here, it will automatically hook up to one of the three networks here, A1, Telemach, and T-Mobile.
If your phone is unlocked, another option is to purchase a prepaid SIM card. Or you can turn off data usage and use your phone only when it’s connected to Wi-Fi. Prepaid cell phones are available for use in the country as well.
INTERNET CONNECTION ON THE SHIPS
We are delighted to offer you the convenience of complimentary WiFi on all our ships. Please note that Internet connection used is a cellular service, and connection might be unreliable during some stages of the cruise. Connection provided is best used for checking email or accessing news portals. At times, reception might not be possible (especially whilst cruising during the day) or connection speeds might drop. Skype calls will work whilst docked in bigger towns. Please do not download videos. Connection can be accessed from all public areas including the salon or from the rear lounge, and on some of our ships, from the cabins.
